It was Friday evening. About six o'clock p.m. My mother, my brother, and I were preparing for a party. I was sitting on the couch, watching tv in the living room. We already had the kitchen table set up with a navy blue table cloth, paper lime plates, and assorted plastic forks, spoons, and knives. Navy blue and lime streamers and balloons filled the living room. The food was still cooking. Anyways, all we needed now were extra chairs to set up outside, and in the living room. "Khalya, dear, can you get some extra chairs from the basement?!", my mom yelled from the kitchen. "Sure," I replied, not as loud as her, and set off towards the hallway. When I got to the hallway, I opened the first door on the left, which led down the steps to the basement. I stared down, and all I saw was darkness. "Creepy," I whispered to myself. I reached for the wall, searching for a light switch. After about a minute of feeling the wall, I flipped the switch on, and the room illuminated. I slowly stepped down the stairs, listening to each stair squeak when my foot made contact with it. Squeak. Squeak. Squeak. Soon, I was at the bottom of the staircase. I glanced around the basement. I saw an old couch, a washing machine, two old fridges, a stack of chairs, and something covered up with an old bed sheet. I slowly walked over to the stack of chairs, which happened to be next to the thing covered up in a bed sheet. I picked up the stack of chairs from the bottom, and turned back towards the staircase. I began walking back to the stairs, but my curiosity got the better of me. I set the stack of chairs on the ground near the staircase, and walked back over to the mysterious bed sheet covered item. I took a deep breath, and yanked the bed sheet off of it. What was unveiled, was an old fashioned arcade game. And at the top of the machine, was a label that read, 'The Void'. The game had a red joystick, and 2 buttons, one green, and one yellow. I reached my hand towards the green button, but before I could press the button, I heard my mom's voice behind me. "DON'T," she yelled. Before I could ask what not to do, my finger slipped, and hit the green button. I felt an intense pain, as my body began turning into a flash of green. My body began being sucked into the arcade game screen, and before i knew it, I was inside of the game, looking at my mother screaming, and running towards the arcade game. Before I could process everything, I blacked out.
